Progettata dallo studio Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects, la Royal Danish Library deve il nome “Black Diamond” al rivestimento in granito nero e alla forma compatta dell’edificio, affacciato sul porto.
Questo lavoro osserva l’architettura attraverso i suoi spazi interni e la loro progressiva apertura verso l’acqua.
Il vuoto centrale organizza i percorsi e mette in relazione i diversi livelli, mentre le parti storiche introducono una dimensione più stabile e misurata.
Tra interno ed esterno, l’edificio si costruisce come una sequenza di relazioni, in cui architettura e paesaggio entrano in continuità.
Designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects, the Royal Danish Library is known as the “Black Diamond” for its black granite cladding and compact form facing the harbour.
This work observes the architecture through its interior spaces and their gradual opening towards the water.
The central void organizes movement and connects different levels, while the historic sections introduce a more stable and measured dimension.
Between interior and exterior, the building unfolds as a sequence of relationships, where architecture and landscape merge.
